Rui de Carvalho Dias, within the scope of the ERASMUS+ GAMES PLUS Project – Traditional Games for Learning to Teach, continues to excel in preserving and innovating traditional games. With skilled hands and a keen eye for detail, Rui has become a key figure in the recreation and artisanal production of the equipment used in the games studied and promoted by the project.
One of his most recent works was the development of the tripod used in Jogo do Beto, a traditional game deeply rooted in the cultural heritage of various Portuguese regions. This tripod, essential for the game, was handcrafted using traditional materials and techniques while incorporating adjustments to ensure durability and safety.
Rui emphasizes that the creation process for the tripod involved not only woodworking expertise but also constant dialogue with GAMES PLUS specialists to ensure that the design respected the cultural characteristics of the game.
Rui de Carvalho Dias’ dedication reflects the essence of the GAMES PLUS Project, which values traditional games as educational and cultural tools. The tripod for Jogo do Beto stands as a testament to how the blend of tradition and innovation can create opportunities for learning and intercultural exchange.
