Erasmus+ GAMES PLUS Project – Split Meeting
The face-to-face meeting of the Erasmus GAMES PLUS project: traditional games for learning to teach, held at the Faculty of Kinesiology of Split University, had four days of important activities, being held between the 16th and 19th of May 2024.
The event was attended by representatives of the three signatory universities: the Faculty of Sports Sciences and Physical Education of the University of Coimbra – FCDEF – UC, the Institut Nacional d’Educació Física de Catalunya of the University of Lleida – UDL and the Kineziološki Fakultet Split of the University of Split – KFS – US, in addition to the signatories representing associativism, being the European Association of Traditional Games and Sports – AEJeST (Spain), the Croatian Association of Traditional Games and Sports – HSTIS (Croatia) and the Portuguese Federation of Traditional Games (Portugal), in which they were also represented through the members of the board of directors of the respective associations.

Prof. Goran, as a member of the project, makes the general presentation highlighting aspects such as Work Packages, objectives, among others, and encourages students to be part of the project’s actions.

The project was presented to the professors, researchers, students and community members present at the site.
Among the explanations made, the following themes were presented:
– International Relations Office – Profa. Ana Penjak, presenting aspects about the history of the college, objectives, future perspectives.
– Oral and video presentation of Beto’s Game by Prof. Paulo Coêlho de Araújo.
– Oral presentation of Bèlit by Prof. Paula Pla.
– Presentation of Pljotckanje and sportsmanship of the game by Milivoj Pacenti – HSTIS.
– FPJT presentation – conducted by Matilde Monteiro.
Professor Ana Penjak from the University of Split, had her participation presenting aspects related to the historical process of the institution, desired objectives and perspectives to be achieved.

Professor Paulo Coelho makes the presentation of the game of Beto (Portugal), highlighting historical aspects and about the practice as basic rules and fundamentals of the game.

Although the traditional Croatian game may be familiar to the students present there, Milivov presents important aspects of the game and how it is approached in the project.

Milivoj’s presentation was attended by prof. Tamara Perkovic, who also highlighted important aspects of the Pljočkanje game.

Matilde Monteiro, makes the presentation of the Portuguese Federation of Traditional Games – FPJT, representing the role of associativism in the project.

Erasmus+ GAMES PLUS Project – internal meeting
In these meetings, important points about the project were discussed, such as the production of materials for each partner to develop actions to disseminate the three games, actions of the future ambassadors of the games, organization of competitions, the process of drafting the pedagogical manual as well as future referrals.

The meeting also provided students from Split with the opportunity to participate in hands-on workshops involving the project’s three game modalities.

The student representatives of the Sports Sciences course at the University of Coimbra, Maria Manuela Simões and Maria Beatriz Silva, had the opportunity to exchange knowledge with the students of Split, characterizing a significant teaching experience through Beto’s Game. Under the supervision of professors Paulo Coelho and Ana Rosa Jaqueira.

The students from Split, through the experience with Beto’s Game, had the possibility to experience a diversified cultural practice that provided the opportunity to expand their repertoire of activities.

The students had great involvement in the modalities worked, which allowed for broad practical exploration.

Just like Beto’s game, the students from Split, through their experience with Bèlit’s game, had the possibility to experience a diversified cultural practice that provided the opportunity to expand their repertoire of activities.

Although the game Pljočkanje is part of the Croatian cultural universe, the practical experience was of great importance because it promoted the experience with the students, promoting the rescue, appreciation and dissemination of the game.

In this meeting, specific materials of the game Pljočkanje were also acquired by the Coimbra team, for the better development of the actions related to the game.

From the realization of another meeting, the GAMES PLUS project continues to provide institutional cooperation with the objective of strengthening and disseminating traditional games as a tool for promoting diversity and social inclusion.
