Students from FCDEFUC promoted Traditional Games in Águeda through GAMES PLUS.
At the invitation of the Hugo Costa Youth Association, the Erasmus+ GAMES PLUS project brought its games to Águeda on November 23 and 30.
These were memorable moments spent with a diverse group, including people with special needs, seniors, children, and other participants. The implementation of the GAMES PLUS activities was led by ambassadors Alexandre Gomes, Beatriz Ferreira, Bianca Costas, David Reis, Maria Beatriz Silva, Pedro Gonçalves, Renato Nogueira, and Tomás Gata, under the coordination of Professors Ana Rosa Jaqueira and Paulo Coêlho de Araújo.

Staff Meeting of the Erasmus+ GAMES PLUS Project: traditional games for learning to teach, in La Seu d’Urgell, Spain
Representatives from the Faculty of Sport Sciences and Physical Education of the University of Coimbra (FCDEFUC) took part in the Staff Meeting of the Erasmus+ GAMES PLUS Project: Traditional Games for Learning to Teach, held in La Seu d’Urgell, Spain.
In addition to engaging in the project’s work meetings, the team played an active role in practical activities with local schoolchildren, teaching traditional games such as Jogo do Beto, Jogo Bèlit, and Jogo Pljočkanje.
Accompanied by project members from the faculty, the group contributed to the exchange of knowledge and practices, emphasizing the educational value of traditional games. This initiative underscores the institution’s commitment to innovation in teaching and cultural preservation through sport.

GAMES PLUS at the Lisbon Sport Film Festival

The Erasmus+ GAMES PLUS Project: traditional games for learning to teach, coordinated by Professor Ana Rosa Jaqueira, will showcase games by Beto, Bèlit and Pljočkanje as part of the Lisbon Sport Film Festival, on October 12th, at 4:00 pm . Location: Avenida de Roma, 14 1000-143 Lisbon.
The 2024 edition of the Lisbon Sport Film Festival is called “Mostra Esporte e Sociedade”, and reinforces the social vocation of Sport and as part of UESPT-Portugal’s mission to promote Sport for All, with films about Sport that reflect social concern .

Erasmus+ GAMES PLUS project participated in the Encuentro Europeo de Juegos Tradicionales: JUEGA EUROPA – Santander 2024
The Erasmus+ GAMES PLUS Project participated in the Encuentro Europeo de Juegos Tradicionales: JUEGA EUROPA – Santander 2024, organized by the Fundación Bolos de Cantabria, the Cántabra de Bolos Federation and the European Association of Traditional Games and Sports (AEJeST).
In conjunction with this Meeting, the following also took place: Festival de Juegos, in which Jogo do Beto was the game presented by Portugal; XXIII Asamblea General of AEJeST, International Symposium: Presente y Futuro de los Juegos e Deportes Tradicionales, cultural model and sporting model, in which professors from Spain, Romania, France, Italy and Hungary were speakers.

Games Plus Project participates in the #BeActive event at Jamor
On September 28th, the Erasmus+ Games Plus project was present at the #BeActive event, organized by the Portuguese Institute of Sports and Youth (IPDJ), within the scope of the European Sports Week. The initiative took place at the Centro Desportivo Nacional do Jamor, bringing together several entities and promoting sports in the community.

The launch event of the Erasmus GAMES PLUS project: traditional games for learning to teach, had four days of important activities, being held between the 21st and 24th of February 2024 and was attended by representatives of the three participating universities, being: the Faculty of Sports Sciences and Physical Education of the University of Coimbra – FCDEF – UC, the Institut Nacional d’Educació Física de Catalunya of the University of Lleida – UDL and the Kineziološki Fakultet Split of the University of Split – KFS – US. The project also has as signatories, the European Association of Traditional Games and Sports – AEJeST (Spain), the Croatian Association of Traditional Games and Sports – HSTIS (Croatia) and the Portuguese Federation of Traditional Games (Portugal), in which they were also represented through their respective directors.

The Kickoff Meeting of the Erasmus+ GAMES PLUS Project: traditional games for learning to teach took place between the 20th and 24th of February, between the project partners and the UC DPA.
In addition to the internal meetings, there were previews of the project’s traditional games: Beto, Bèlit and Pljočkanje. One of the highlights of this Kickoff was the Seminar, with presentations from the presidents of the European Association of Traditional Games and Sports (AEJeST), Professor Pere Lavega, of the Portuguese Federation of Traditional Games (FPJT), Dr. Traditional Games and Sports (HSTIS), Doctor Milivoj Pacenti.
These activities were integrated into the week celebrating the 32nd anniversary of FCDEFUC, also marked by speeches from the Director, Professor Doctor Vasco Vaz, and other speakers from the project partners.

EPVL. One of the objectives of the Erasmus GAMES PLUS Project: traditional games for learning to teach, is the formation of cooperation partnerships in the field of sport, for educational and training purposes and the promotion of social inclusion and cultural diversity.
In this sense, the project carried out an action on March 8, 2024 with the students of the Technical Sports course at the Vasconcellos Lebre Professional School located in the municipality of Mealhada in the district of Aveiro.

Beto’s Game Tournament. One of the objectives of the Erasmus GAMES PLUS Project: traditional games for learning to teach, also refers to the proposition of competitive events involving traditional games. In this way, the project seeks to highlight the contributions of the universe that permeate the practice of traditional games, inserting them in a competitive context. In this sense, the project held on April 23, 2024, a tournament involving Jogo do Beto, with students from the Sports Sciences course at the University of Coimbra.

Footfintas – AAC. The relevance of the Erasmus GAMES PLUS Project: traditional games for learning to teach, lies in the search to encourage the target populations involved, through the use of TSG in all its adaptive capacity and its dissemination as a means of promoting social inclusion and cultural diversity.
In this sense, the project carried out an action on April 3, 2024, in the Easter vacation program of the Academic Association of Coimbra, with the sports initiation students of the football modality at the Briosa XXI Academy in Coimbra.

Erasmus+ GAMES PLUS Project – Split Meeting . The face-to-face meeting of the Erasmus GAMES PLUS project: traditional games for learning to teach, held at the Faculty of Kinesiology of Split University, had four days of important activities, being held between the 16th and 19th of May 2024.
The event was attended by representatives of the three signatory universities: the Faculty of Sports Sciences and Physical Education of the University of Coimbra – FCDEF – UC, the Institut Nacional d’Educació Física de Catalunya of the University of Lleida – UDL and the Kineziološki Fakultet Split of the University of Split – KFS – US, in addition to the signatories representing associativism, being the European Association of Traditional Games and…
